there is some good news and some bad news in this budget process. The good news is our Republican colleagues, indeed, did find the missing 2 pages, and that is good news. The bad news is that it allowed us the time and the American people to the time to find out the dollar figure that our Republican friends across the aisle cut out of the education budget that was put in by the Senate. We have had the time and America has had the time to figure out what that number was, and that number is minus $294 billion, $294 billion for smaller classes that America wants, $294 billion for more teachers that America wants, $294 billion for better quality in our education that America wants. The U.S. Senate put that money in for better schools. The Republican Party took it out. The President just recently asked an important question. He asked, ``Is our children learning?'' In this budget, they is not.
