On the recordJune 15, 2004
we do not want to believe that the U.S. Congress would allow such a massive rip-off of Americans to take place and not do something. We do not want to believe that just because Ken Lay was so close to President Bush that the whole Federal Government will do nothing. We do not want to believe that massive political contributions could end up with the Federal Government not doing its job. We do not want to believe that when the Federal Government itself concludes that there was a crime, that there was manipulation, that there was gamesmanship, that there was defrauding, that there was embezzling, that they would do nothing. We do not believe that is the right thing to do, and we think ultimately we have some confidence that we will actually prevail on this. Even if it takes November and we get a new Congress that will finally take action to get a refund for Americans, that is the route we will go.
