families across the country are frustrated, and so am I. People are doing everything they can to end this pandemic, only to see some Republicans trying to prolong it with bills like this. We are fighting a highly contagious virus. It has killed over 685,000 people in our country. And that that number is only going to keep going up if people don't get vaccinated, and variants like Delta will continue to spread, undermine our economy, and take lives. We need to end this pandemic, and getting people vaccinated is one of the most important things we can do to accomplish that. So why would we pass an amendment that weakens one of our strongest tools to get people safely through this crisis? I urge all of my colleagues to stand with people across the country who have been following the public health guidance, and who are ready for this pandemic to an end, by voting against this dangerous, counterproductive amendment. Vote on Amendment No. 3831 The PRESIDING OFFICER. Under the previous order, the question is on agreeing to the amendment.

I understand the floor vote is going to be soon. I ask unanimous consent that it be after I finish my remarks. The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.
