I would simply like to remind my distinguished colleague that it is the lack of discipline in this body and the body across the Chamber here, of the Capitol Building, that is responsible for that escalation of spending beyond control. We have increased taxes dramatically. In fact, just in the decade of the 1980's we doubled total revenues from $500 billion to $1 trillion, and yet our national debt combined to escalate astronomically because of the lack of discipline here. I would urge colleagues to keep that in mind.
