I want to thank you for having this. I think we should continue this, because this is a travesty in the United States to have these kinds of mortality rates.

Every time a life is lost to suicide, it is a tragedy.

Do not imply, Mr. Secretary, I care any less about the veterans who are committing suicide. I have declared suicide prevention to be the No. 1 priority of this committee.

The provision of grants that address social risk factors may substantially help prevent veteran suicide.
