If you want to be calculating about it, how is it helpful to us in the long run? If you don't want to do it out of Christian goodness, out of the depths of humanity, then think about the long-term ramifications. Think about what it does to us to have 1 million children not being fed properly, not being able to think in a classroom, to be able to function, and to be able to do their work. What will that do to us 10 years from now? How many dropouts will there be? How many young people will be unable to function, to be able to read and write, and to be able to find a job? That will cost us, I am sure, entirely more money.
