I would submit that the North Korean regime from 1950 has a history of making a promise and then breaking a promise.

I believe, paraphrasing, there are threats greater than an Islamist insurgency that's nationalist in its nature.

Perhaps have we considered a paradigm wherein we tie aid and development to Afghanistan to eradication efforts?

We have an ability--and a responsibility... to be a check on executive power by virtue of speaking when we are in disagreement.
