The Voice of America, when properly levied, has been instrumental to the freedom of literally hundreds of millions of people and that shouldn't be underestimated.

We have an ability--and a responsibility... to be a check on executive power by virtue of speaking when we are in disagreement.

I wish we could do more--the sense of Congress regarding a tragedy that's literally impacted millions is the right thing to do.

I believe to my very core that the best of the collective is achieved by empowering the individual.
