I rise in support of the Coastal Zone Management Act. This is an important tool for America. It is important to my own State of New York, in which we have some of the most pristine beaches in the world and some of the most beautiful coastline, obviously, in the world. A good, healthy environment obviously is a good economic environment. On Long Island, where tourism is a key industry, we believe the Coastal Zone Management Act has been a wonderful, wonderful tool. I am pleased to have played a role last year in the funding of the Coastal Zone Management Act, in making sure that that very important law was fully funded. My own State of New York benefits to the tune of $2 million to have adequate planning, to provide for the future safety of our estuaries, our bays, our creeks. In Nassau and Suffolk County, the Coastal Zone Management Act is an incredibly important device. One million dollars goes to the good planning efforts. I rise in support of this very important measure.
