I commend the leader because there is no more essential thing in America than our freedom. It is written into every important document. It is the very foundation upon which our Republic was formed, yet we have turned aside and winked at this process whereby the American worker is penalized in that he or she cannot exercise his or her own free will in making the most fundamental of decisions: Whether or not to have his or her paycheck involuntarily docked for a sum of money for which in most instances they have no idea to what uses it will be put by people who make decisions for them. Then that same worker will exercise his or her right of freedom to go to a polling place and write in a check or pull a lever or whatever the procedure may be by which he or she will exercise his or her freedom to select that individual, Democrat or Republican, independent, whether it is for chairman of the board of supervisors in the hometown, President of the United States, or whatever the case may be. To me it is a total anachronism to say that you cannot make a decision with regard to your paycheck, yet you are free to go into the polling booth and make that decision.
