Additionally, the Hampton Roads areas is where our world trade began hundreds of years ago. The area is home to the world's most powerful Navy, the world's largest natural harbor, the country's largest and oldest shipyard, and a center of marine engineering unequaled anywhere in the world. A national maritime center in this region could aid immeasurably in educating the public about maritime issues and the importance of the maritime industry in our Nation's history.”
