I would like to thank my friend, the Senator from Connecticut. Let me add my voice to his. There is no better friend or stronger ally. This is one of the key relationships our country has. Like the Senator from Connecticut and the Presiding Officer and others, we have a lot of things in this body we disagree with, but our firm support for Israel, particularly at a time when there is so much turmoil in that region, it is important the Senator from Connecticut, Mr. Blumenthal, spoke on that issue. Recognizing Federal Employees I am going to take a moment today to repeat something I do on a regular basis. It is something I inherited from the former Senator from Delaware, Mr. Kaufman, when he was here. He would, on a fairly regular basis, come down and recognize the great work of individual Federal employees. We spend a lot of time in this body talking about what government does not do well and how we need to rein in and get our government in order. I know the Presiding Officer and I share those beliefs. There are an awful lot of good folks who work for our Federal Government day in and day out who do not get much recognition but provide incredibly valuable service to literally 300 million Americans. So following in Mr. Kaufman's footsteps, I come down and pick a Federal employee to recognize. I will get to this Federal employee in a moment. Let me just say we have already seen rumblings in the press of another potential political brinksmanship around the end of the fiscal year.…
