“Mr. President, first of all, I want to agree with my colleagues, the ranking member, the Senator from Texas, the Senator from North Dakota, and the Senator from Arizona, on the very good work that has been done on this FAA reauthorization bill and the importance of this bill, not only in terms of at least starting us down the path of NextGen and starting to recognize the safety issues that are addressed. In this case, I am simply filling the shoes of my esteemed predecessor, Senator John Warner, who I know for 20 years probably has had this battle, and my colleagues have gone through some of the twists and turns.
