I remain ready to work across the aisle to strengthen our ethics laws and crack down on congressional stock trading, without using that effort as a vehicle to rewrite our nation’s voting laws.

Artificial intelligence is one of the defining national security challenges of our time, and I welcome the administration recognizing that this technology requires serious, sustained attention at the highest levels of government.

I voted no because I will not support making it harder for eligible Americans to vote in order to pass an ethics reform that should stand on its own.

I hope this appointment is an opportunity for the administration to move beyond slogans and toward a serious, coordinated national strategy for AI.
