I want to say a word about something that the gentleman from Illinois (Mr. Kirk) mentioned, this business of the mounted police on the Capitol. I wholly agree with the gentleman from Illinois (Mr. Kirk) and the chairman. I do not think this is a necessary adjunct to our Capitol Police. I think it is a strange and illogical addition, in fact, and particularly when I learned that the Capitol Police have to spend what must be a good hour driving down to the BLM property on Gunston Road. I was involved with the gentleman from Virginia (Mr. Tom Davis) in setting that aside for the Bureau of Land Management. I am very much familiar with it. But I never imagined it would be housing horses that had to be deployed on the Capitol grounds.
