I thank my dear friend, Ms. Bonamici, for yielding and for her leadership on this important issue. Mr. Chair, I rise in strong support of this commonsense amendment to allow the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense to continue working together to develop biofuel options for our Nation's military. DOD's reliance on a single source of fuel deepens dependence on foreign oil, threatens our national security, and contributes significantly to spending. Why would we not want the Department of Energy with their deep technical expertise in this area to assist DOD to create alternatives for petroleum-based fuels? It makes no sense, and I urge my colleagues' support.

American families are spending more on their energy bills than ever before as the Trump Administration continues to prioritize fossil fuel profits over affordability, and we can't afford market manipulators making matters worse.
And they will fail to achieve any of the pretextual objectives Trump has stated for imposing them.
The bill before us takes food and drink from the mouths of the poor. It takes healthcare from the sick. A vote for this bill betrays these Gospel teachings, and in our hearts all of us know it.
earlier this year, House Republicans passed a bill that strips healthcare from millions of Americans and raises costs for millions more. That was a monstrous bill, but this is a cowardly bill. It does nothing to stop the skyrocketing costs…
