I remind my colleague that his vote against the bill is a vote to deny about 38 percent of the workers in his district in Pennsylvania an average wage of about $3,300 a year. The administration had been illegally creating these interagency agreements, which are extremely inefficient and wasteful, and also result in inconsistent enforcement of federal education policy.
Instead, they’re forced to deal with uncertainty and chaos created by an administration that has systematically weakened the federal student aid system.
The repeal represents the federal government walking away from that responsibility, which jeopardizes the hard-fought progress we have made.
Codifying this new system without assessing its effectiveness just doesn’t make any sense.
