The sweeping changes to the federal student loan system originating from that law are compounding the issues that have risen from the dismantling of the Education Department.

Instead, they’re forced to deal with uncertainty and chaos created by an administration that has systematically weakened the federal student aid system.

The repeal represents the federal government walking away from that responsibility, which jeopardizes the hard-fought progress we have made.

The administration had been illegally creating these interagency agreements, which are extremely inefficient and wasteful, and also result in inconsistent enforcement of federal education policy.
