I am excited to stand alongside Sen. Lashrecse Aird and Del. Paul Krizek to announce that we have agreed to a proposal that will create a safe, legal, and well-regulated cannabis market here in the commonwealth of Virginia, with recreational sales beginning on July 1, 2027.

This sort of theatrical policing, like we’ve seen in some other states with the use of masks or facial coverings, is an expectation that law enforcement in Virginia — local, state and federal — not pursue.
I pledge to work with state lawmakers in future legislative sessions to ensure data centers pay their fair share, adhere to strict environmental standards, and listen to the concerns of local communities.
I think the fact that we are on the rise to number three means that we’re moving in the right direction.
But our energy future should not — must not — just be written in Richmond.
