I would request that in conference the distinguished chairman seek to increase the scholarship amount for students who agree to teach in high-need schools from the current $10,000 per year to $12,000 per year over a 3-year period of scholarship support. The intention of this is to increase this scholarship amount to address the problem of a disproportionate number of high-need schools that have high percentages of out-of-field STEM teachers.
