“I have just cast 13,000th vote here in the Senate. I have to admit that I never thought I would cast so many votes, but I'm grateful that I have had the opportunity to serve the good people of Utah long enough to reach this milestone. That said, I am not really one to dwell on the past. I have a lot more work here to do and a lot more votes to cast before I am done. But, I do want to thank both the distinguished majority and minority leaders for their kind words this evening and for being gracious enough to take the time to mark this occasion. I have known these good Senators a long time and I am proud to call both of them my friends. I am grateful for all of the friends and colleague I have made here in the Senate.
