I commend the Senator. I think he is absolutely right. We had it in the Senate bill. It was a worthwhile provision that I think we need to include later, since we can't do it on this bill at this point. I will support him in every way possible to get this done in the future. I commend the Senator for bringing this to the attention of this body because I have to say the House absolutely would not permit us to put that in the bill.

Unfortunately, it seems that some on the political left have decided to try to turn this hearing into a circus.
Those backlogs at the Social Security Administration are unacceptable to many, if not most, of us here in the Senate.
Confirmation hearings are supposed to be an opportunity for the American people to hear from the nominee.
Having a confirmed Commissioner, and sustained leadership, will benefit the Social Security Administration.
