And about 78 percent of the American people--between 68 and 78 percent of the American people--have always been for this balanced budget amendment. They come from all walks of life, from every group. The reason they do is they are deathly afraid that if we do not get this spending under control, the very people that my good friends have been talking about are going to be hurt the most. There is no question about it. To just keep arguing that we can continue to do business as usual, as has been argued here, that is the biggest joke of all.
