The bill clerk read as follows: The Senator from Utah [Mr. Hatch], for himself and Mr. McConnell, proposes an amendment numbered 2573. The amendment is as follows: (Purpose: In the nature of a substitute) Strike all after the enacting clause and insert the following: SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Tax Hike Prevention Act of 2012''. SEC. 2. TEMPORARY EXTENSION OF 2001 TAX RELIEF. (a) In General.--Section 901 of the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 is amended by striking ``December 31, 2012'' both places it appears and inserting ``December 31, 2013''. (b) Effective Date.--The amendment made by this section shall take effect as if included in the enactment of the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001. SEC. 3. TEMPORARY EXTENSION OF 2003 TAX RELIEF. (a) In General.--Section 303 of the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 is amended by striking ``December 31, 2012'' and inserting ``December 31, 2013''.
