History will not look kindly on us if we don’t pass the SAVE America Act.

So I’m respectfully imploring the people at the Pentagon to reconsider this, not just reconsider but undo it.

I hereby object to any effort to put the Senate into recess in August — at least until such time as the Senate has passed the SAVE America Act — and hereby request a roll call vote.

I got a call shortly before 2:00 am and was told that a deal had materialized that would ensure everyone at DHS would get paid—a possibly fleeting deal that required immediate action.
