The story is that we are the wealthiest nation that ever existed on the face of the Earth. The wealth of America is constantly increasing and the wealth of wealthy people throughout the world is constantly increasing. There is no reason why minimum wages cannot be provided. There is no reason why health care cannot be provided for everybody. There is no reason why we cannot have a totally different kind of society even within the structure of capitalism. There is no reason why it cannot happen. It is the blindness, the shortsightedness of the people in power and that have the money that continues this condition. And the fact we went to great lengths to push people off welfare and with the myth that there were jobs out there, and now we are pushing them into the work force to undercut the lowest paid workers and compete with those that have jobs.
