“People in the poorest parts of my district would welcome an increase of 45 cents or 50 cents. We really need more. They do not care where it comes from Republicans or Democrats. There are people who are suffering that need that increase in the minimum wage. To deny an increase in the minimum wage and also to cut the earned income tax credit is nothing other than mean, and that is not the kind of government that the American people deserve, and I know that is not what they voted for.”
