I am opposed to the bill. The SPEAKER pro tempore. The Clerk will report the motion to recommit. The Clerk read as follows: Mr. Owens moves to recommit the bill (H.R. 982) to the Committee on the Judiciary with instructions to report the bill back to the House forthwith with the following amendments: Redesignate section 3 as section 4. Insert after section 2 the following: SEC. 3. PROTECTING THE PRIVACY OF U.S. SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS AND ENSURING CLAIMS ARE PAID BEFORE DEATH. Paragraph (8) of section 524(g) of title 11 of the United States Code, as added by section 2, shall not apply with respect to a claimant who is or has been a member of the Armed Forces of the United States. The SPEAKER pro tempore. Pursuant to the rule, the gentleman from New York is recognized for 5 minutes in support of his motion.
