Good morning and welcome to today's hearing. We are pleased to have as our guest today Chairman Alan Greenspan of the Federal Reserve.
The idea that it has been assigned responsibility and blame for this crisis is so far-fetched, so imaginary as to almost not merit a response.
My own expectation is that the markets generally have assumed that the tax cuts will, in fact, stay in place and that there would be a negative reaction in the markets if that assumption were to prove not to be the case.
