It takes 60 votes to get anything through the Senate. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

We cannot allow this to happen.

I think the outcry would be very, very strong. There is a huge conflict of interest here, and such an individual should not be included.

I do not think that is what the original filibuster rule had in mind, but it has become the norm.
