I rise in support of H.R. 2372, the Private Property Rights Implementation Act. This legislation secures a basic right of all Americans: protection against government confiscation of homes, farms, and businesses. One of our most basic rights is contained in the Constitution's Fifth Amendment. It is the right of all citizens to acquire, possess, and dispose of private property. That constitutional right is now threatened by regulations imposed by government officials. The Government is able to confiscate the property of workers, farmers, and families without providing fair compensation. H.R. 2372 will change that. Mr. Chairman, I urge my colleagues to support this bill.
