Mr. Speaker, today is a defining moment in this Nation's history. Will we choose the path of individual liberty or will we choose the path of government tyranny? Will we choose the path to be in control of our own health, or will we choose to go the way of a European nanny state where government forces health choices upon us? Will we choose to uphold the sacred motto ``We the People'' or will we return to the chains and slavery of government and choose ``We the Subjects''? Our choice is clear. The American people don't desire more oppressive, intrusive government in charge of their health. The people want to control their own lives. Thomas Paine in the Revolution said, ``These are the times that try men's souls. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered.'' Our Founders made the right difficult choice. So will we at this time, on this day, this hour, stand for government tyranny or personal liberty? I choose ``We the People,'' not ``We the Subjects.'' And that's just the way it is. ____________________
