The unfortunate reality is the Democratic Party in this Chamber has been reluctant to stand up to Russia and reluctant to stand up to the Soviet Union before that, for decades. The Democratic Party consistently has embraced weakness on Russia and the Soviet Union. I am old enough to remember President Barack Obama in debate with Republican nominee Mitt Romney when Mitt Romney said we need to stand up to Russia.
