“I like what you said there about a prescription drug benefit for our seniors and fair pricing for all of us would be as good as a tax cut. It is not unusual for us to run into people who are paying $400 and $500 or more a month just to fill all their prescription drugs, and when you know that we are paying twice as much as anybody else in the world for our medicines, if you had fairness in pricing, they would save $200 or $250 a month. Goodness, I do not know any of these tax proposals that everybody is talking about that are going to give an average family $2,400 a year. So if we could provide fairness in drug pricing and a prescription drug benefit for our seniors, we would help many of them many times over what they can expect under any of our tax-cut proposals.”
