I always have to stop and ask myself, can that fellow really be trusted with words and numbers? One of the things the Vice President made a big point of the other night was that if you elect me, we will never, ever, ever touch your Social Security trust funds. Now, first of all they have got a bad track record on that. But we take a look again at his budget proposals. And his very own proposals when you score them out, they estimate that the Vice President would rob the trust fund of between $500 billion and $900 billion to pay for his new spending agenda. Mr. and Mrs. America, we are today celebrating the fact that we have made $350 billion in debt reduction; and here we have got a fellow that has come along and said, ``I'm going to spend between $500 billion and $900 billion to pay for my new programs.''
