I would like to yield 2 minutes to the gentleman from Corpus Christi, Texas (Mr. Farenthold), another one of our brand-new Members, who brings to this House and to the floor not only a commonsense element but the insistence that people from Corpus Christi be represented on the floor of this House in such a way that will benefit not only our country but also the United States military and, in particular, the United States Navy that has a large base in Corpus Christi.

It would make sense not to rely on self-certification in the future, and yet the Biden Administration is proposing to allow applicants for student loan forgiveness to self-certify for this benefit.
That is why we respect the ability of local people to make local decisions and to come up with an answer.
