On the recordJuly 8, 2003
I certainly agree, as a Federal prosecutor--and I prosecuted some physicians and other professionals in the medical business for bad behavior, but the odd thing about the way our tort system works, people think the doctor who gets sued is being punished, but really the doctor has insurance which he is required to have in order to practice in a hospital--virtually everybody has to have some, no matter how much it costs--and they do not end up being punished. Every physician in the community is punished, are they not? Is that not an odd thing that we are dealing with in current law?
