I did not vote for this bill. I do not approve of this bill. The process was flawed. In fact, the process was absolutely toxic to this House, to the United States Congress--in fact, to the country at large. Never before has a piece of legislation this sweeping and with this sweeping in scope and its impact on the daily lives of the American people, never before has a bill this large passed with only the support of one side of the aisle. In fact, never has a bill like this passed that did not at least have some measure of popular support. But the bill passed with a great deal of difficulty because it did lack popular support from the American people. Now, 6 weeks after the passage of this bill and the bill signing ceremony down in the East Wing of the White House, now 6 weeks later, if anything, opposition to this bill has hardened.
