“I thank the chairman for yielding. Mr. Speaker, as an original cosponsor and as a negotiator of the House legislation, I rise in the strongest support of the track-and- trace provisions which would protect the public and give confidence to doctors in practice that the drugs they are dispensing, in fact, came from the manufacturer. There's always the risk of unintended consequences. I sincerely hope that this language will pass this test; but if it does not, I hope that our committee and this body will stand ready to do the necessary oversight and correct any unintended consequences.”
