“I would merely point out that we have had this discussion on the Energy and Water Appropriations bill year in and year out on this issue. The fact of the matter is the Department of Energy wasted money when it came to Solyndra. We should not support the additional wasting of money simply because it is nuclear energy that is involved at this point. Realistically, this should have been stopped last year or the year before. The fact that it has not been stopped is not something that we, as Republicans, can continue to justify. This activity needs to cease. To defeat this measure on a technicality is the wrong approach. I would encourage the Chair to allow this amendment to come forward to a floor vote. I believe it would be supported by the Members. The CHAIR.
