In Texas today, the Immigration and Naturalization Service estimates that there are a minimum of about 4,000 undocumented aliens in the State prison system. But that is a minimum. They really do not exactly know, and they think the number is actually much higher, so this is a cost that is being borne by the State taxpayers. That does not take into account the number of undocumented aliens who are being held in the various municipal and county jails throughout the State of Texas. I am sure the same is true in the State of California and other States around the country.
