The President should listen to the voters and not grant amnesty to illegal immigrants by executive order. A recent survey by the polling company found that three-quarters of voters want the President to work with Congress to change immigration policies, not act on his own. This overwhelming opposition to unilateral executive action is bipartisan--93 percent of Republicans, 81 percent of Independents, and 56 percent of Democrats want the President to follow the legislative process. Voters also support immigration policies that put American workers first. Supermajorities from all demographic groups say that Americans who need work should have the opportunity to do the jobs now held by illegal immigrants. They believe that government has a responsibility to protect American workers from competition with illegal workers. The President should listen to the voters and put the interests of Americans first. ____________________
