“I think it's important to remember that the people of America spoke decisively in the November election. It was as clear a referendum on the direction that President Obama and Speaker Pelosi were taking the Nation as we could have, and the Nation decisively rejected the agenda that Speaker Pelosi and President Obama were promoting. The spending that Chairman Rogers spoke about was out of control over these last several years. I know in the time I served under President Bush I voted against about $2.6 trillion of new spending under President Bush. And in just the last 2 years, under President Obama and Speaker Pelosi, my staff calculates I've had to vote against about $7.6 trillion in spending under President Obama. The country elected this new majority to cut spending, to repeal ObamaCare, and to put the Nation back on track towards a balanced budget, and that's what this appropriations bill does.”
