It is incredible to me that at a time when the geopolitics of the world make the likelihood of domestic terrorist attacks greater than usual, that our Democratic colleagues would simply reflexively oppose funding for the Department of Homeland Security because they don't believe immigration laws should be enforced. It is absurd that they have taken this approach to voice their opposition to President Trump, which maybe explains everything because the first question, it seems like, in their mind is: If President Trump wants it, maybe we should oppose it, which has been consistent with their behavior. But it is time for this nonsense to end for a variety of reasons. I just came from a Judiciary Committee hearing on intellectual property theft and espionage from the People's Republic of China, among other adversaries. And one of the things that I am not sure people recognize is that the chief civilian cyber security Agency of the Federal Government is housed within the Department of Homeland Security--CISA, it is called. They have currently furloughed 60 percent of their staff because Democrats refuse to fund the Department of Homeland Security because they are mad that President Trump is keeping his commitment to enforce our immigration laws.
