“my amendment mandates that the Department of Transportation can inspect Mexican trucks, Canadian trucks, and American trucks by exactly the same high public safety standards. If, in fact, under this pilot program those requirements are not met, it defunds this pilot program that is part of our compliance with our 1993 treaty agreements under NAFTA. I urge my colleagues to support it.”
