So they will have been successfully placed in the United States, sometimes with relatives, sometimes with noncitizens, sometimes with foster families who don't know them at all. That is why the smugglers have been smuggling unaccompanied children. But in August alone, more than 86,000 members of families--typically women with young children--have crossed the border.
