“Indeed, if we want to send a powerful message that we have maintained our resolve and commitment to defend our country against the scourge of terrorism, this would be a powerful symbol, a powerful message that this body could send that our commitment is strong, that we will maintain our resolve, and we will fight the war on terrorism and defend ourselves from those who would kill our innocent civilians in this country and elsewhere; that we will maintain that resolve and we will fight until the very end. So I think it is very important that we pass this legislation.”
