“Madam President, last year the Center for Missing & Exploited Children received 32 million--32 million--reports of suspected child sexual exploitation. As we are demonstrating here on a bipartisan basis, the Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by the Senator from Illinois, passed six bipartisan bills that aim to protect those children, and you have heard of some of them. Two of the bills have already passed the Senate, including my Project Safe Childhood Act. Four others still need to pass, including the SHIELD Act, which Senator from Iowa just mentioned, which I introduced with Senator Klobuchar, from Minnesota, to ensure that criminals who share explicit photos of children online are held accountable. Children are our Nation's most valuable resource, and yet we neglect them far too often when they fall prey to predators on line and in our streets. But we need to move on these bills. It is not enough for us to pat ourselves on the back and say the Judiciary Committee did its job on a bipartisan basis. We need these bills to be taken up, passed, and sent to the President of the United States without further delay. I want to thank Senator Graham for his leadership on this issue, and I hope the Senate can finally advance these bills.”
