“it is easy for the public and the press to focus on the issues that divide us in Washington, DC, and around the country. In fact, in Washington, DC, that is a world-class sport-- focusing on division, the things that separate us, the things where we clearly can't agree, on occasion--but today I am happy to highlight an area marked by broad consensus and true bipartisan spirit. But the good news is we have found a way, amidst a lot of the division and polarization here, to achieve a bipartisan coalition on some important criminal justice reforms.
