George W. Bush: “I don't care whether you're a Republican or a Democrat or could care less about political party, you have an obligation…”

We are heartbroken by the loss of life and the agony so many are feeling.

We are grateful to the first responders and volunteers who are working to find the missing and comfort the grieving at Camp Mystic and along the Guadalupe.

Violence and vitriol must be purged from the public square. Members of other political parties are not our enemies; they are our fellow citizens.

If any voters came hoping for a kind word and a hug, they’d have to settle for the kind word.
